Thick thighs save lives
I can never understand those people who go to the gym and never do a leg day.
Every day here at the Den is some sort of leg day, the legs will be worked, because having strong legs, glutes, and a better posterior chain is good for so many different things.
Apart from the obvious fact your bum just looks great and you get the chance as one person said to me once, I want to be able to crush the skulls of fuck boys with my legs.
As far as I know as yet she hasn’t but who knows, the bodies may not have been found yet.
Anyway, there are so many reasons you should make Legs and glutes a priority especially as we get older.
Here are a few of them
- If you play sports at present it is only going to improve your overall performance. Faster running, more powerful strikes etc etc.
- Increasing the strength in the tendons, bones, cartilage & muscles can help keep injuries at bay, it makes everything more stable.
- Stronger, thicker ACL ligaments, this is something we have seen come up a lot over the recent years, especially in women’s sports, so by making them stronger, and thicker you have a better chance of them not going.
Now we get to the main reasons we all should be doing leg days.
- 14% decrease in all-cause mortality, if we are fitter and stronger this is just a by-product, it becomes harder to be killed.
- Better Physical function later in life, if you have a stronger posterior chain and lower body you will find you can get around more, and you are able to continue being independent.
- Reduced risk of falls in later life, stronger, fitter, and better balance mean you will be more stable on your feet, meaning less chance of a fall and extended time in hospital, etc.
- All of that will then mean you have a better quality of life as you get on, being independent means you can do more, and not being reliant on others means you can get on with things and do what you want to do.
There you go. If you want to continue being bloody brilliant, stop being one of those who just works the upper body or does a bit of cardio.
Lift some weights and be bloody brilliant, aim to crush those skulls, or if not a skull maybe just a watermelon.
