You’re Drowning In Advice And Starving For Action

At some point, getting healthy became a full-time job.

Not actually doing healthy things.

Just keeping up with all the advice.

Every time you open social media there’s a new expert telling you you’re doing it wrong.

Apparently, before you’ve even thought about exercising, you need:

  • a morning routine
  • a cold plunge
  • a red light panel
  • a glucose monitor
  • an ice bath
  • an Oura Ring
  • a WHOOP strap
  • electrolytes
  • magnesium
  • collagen
  • creatine
  • greens powder
  • a standing desk
  • a walking pad
  • a sleep tracker
  • a recovery tracker

And that’s before you’ve even had your first coffee.

No wonder people are confused.

No wonder people are overwhelmed.

No wonder people are doing absolutely fuck all.

Because the health and fitness industry stopped making health simpler and started making it more complicated.

And this is why people struggle.

We Are Drowning In Information

We have more access to health information than at any point in human history.

Thousands of podcasts.

Millions of videos.

Infinite blogs.

Experts.

Influencers.

Researchers.

Doctors.

Nutritionists.

Coaches.

Biohackers.

Every opinion imaginable is available in your pocket within seconds.

However, people seem more confused than ever.

Not because there’s a lack of information.

Because there’s too much of it.

Everyone is shouting.

Everyone claims they’ve got the answer.

Everyone is selling the solution.

And eventually people end up paralysed.

Unable to work out what actually matters.

The Industry Loves Complexity

Simple doesn’t make much money.

Complex does.

If I tell you:

“Eat more protein, walk regularly, lift weights a few times a week, sleep properly.”

That’s useful.

It’s also difficult to build a billion-pound industry around.

But if I convince you that:

  • your hormones are broken
  • your cortisol is too high
  • your glucose is unstable
  • your mitochondria need optimising
  • your inflammation needs hacking

Now we’ve got a business.

Because if I create a problem…

I can sell you a solution.

Recovery Has Become Performance Theatre

We’ve touched on this before. Here, if you want more of an in-depth chat

Recovery used to mean:

  • eating
  • sleeping
  • resting

Now recovery looks like somebody preparing for a moon landing.

Ice baths.

Red light therapy.

Compression boots.

Breathing protocols.

Cold exposure.

Heat exposure.

Contrast therapy.

Recovery tracking.

Recovery scores.

Recovery optimisation.

Meanwhile they’re sleeping four hours a night and wondering why they’re tired.

The Morning Routine Olympics

Social media is particularly brilliant at this one.

Apparently successful people now wake up at 4:15am.

They:

  • meditate
  • journal
  • cold plunge
  • breathwork
  • gratitude practice
  • mobility work
  • hydration protocol
  • sunlight exposure

All before you’ve found your pants.

If that genuinely works for someone, crack the fuck on.

But most people don’t need a morning routine that takes longer than my workday.

Most people just need to get up, have some breakfast, move their body, and get on with life.

The Average Person Doesn’t Need Any Of This

Most people reading this do not need:

17 supplements

An ice bath

A glucose monitor

A red light panel

A £300 sleep tracker

A recovery score

A wellness protocol

What they probably need is:

More protein

More fruit and vegetables

Two or three strength sessions a week

A daily walk

Better sleep

More consistency

That’s it.

Not sexy.

Not exciting.

But incredibly effective.

The Problem Isn’t Lack Of Knowledge

One of the biggest bits of bullshit in fitness is that people need more information.

Most people already know enough to dramatically improve their health.

They know they should:

  • move more
  • eat more vegetables
  • eat more protein
  • drink more water
  • sleep more

The issue isn’t knowledge.

The issue is doing it.

People are spending so much time gathering information that they’ve forgotten to do.

Action Beats Information

You don’t get fitter by listening to fitness podcasts.

You don’t get stronger by watching workout videos.

You don’t improve your health by endlessly researching supplements.

At some point, you have to close the laptop and actually do something.

A twenty-minute walk will beat another hour of scrolling fitness content.

A simple strength session beats another podcast about training.

Action wins.

Every time.

Why I’m Building The Unf*ck Your Fitness Collective

One of the reasons I’ve spent the last few months building the Unf*ck Your Fitness Collective is because I’m genuinely fed up watching people get overwhelmed by the fitness industry.

Every day there’s:

  • another supplement
  • another wellness hack
  • another morning routine
  • another recovery gadget
  • another biohacker telling you you’re doing life wrong

People are drowning in information.

But starving for action.

They’re spending hours listening to podcasts about health.

Watching videos about health.

Reading about health.

Thinking about health.

But they’re not actually doing much about health.

They’ve been convinced they need to optimise everything before they can start anything.

The reality?

They need a simpler plan.

They need structure.

They need accountability.

They need support.

They need somebody to help them focus on the stuff that actually matters.

That’s exactly what the Collective is being built around.

Not creating more complexity.

Removing it.

Not giving you another list of things to buy.

Helping you focus on the things that actually move the needle.

The official launch is in September, with founder pricing and early access details being released in mid-July.

Final Thought

The fitness industry has made getting healthy look far more complicated than it actually is.

Because complicated sells.

Simple doesn’t.

People don’t need another hack.

They don’t need another gadget.

They don’t need another supplement.

They need to stop waiting for the perfect solution and start doing the basics consistently.

Because what if getting healthier was actually simpler than you’ve been led to believe?

Keep Smiling.
