The Fall Guy

Today we get back to doing one of the things I enjoy.

Watching movies and then turning them into an email on how it works with your life etc.

This week it is The Fall Guy.

Great fun film and a reminder that in the 80s they loved car stunts.

I’m not going to give anything away with the film except it is a fun funny film, with some great stunts, and for those of you that grew up in the 80s hang around for the post-credit scene.

Anyway, in the movie there is a point where they are talking about how he makes it all look easy and giving the thumbs up after the stunt etc but he does mention that it hurts.

Rolling a car hurts.

Being thrown out of a window hurts.

But, it is for the long-term benefit of the film, it makes it look bloody great.

It got me thinking though.

Things do hurt that are for the benefit of the long-term goal.

You want to change your life, get fit, get healthier you know change who you are.

It’s going to hurt.

It’s taken so many years of your current lifestyle to get to where you are now.

To change is going to hurt.

Changing the way you eat.

Changing things you do.

Potentially even changing your social circle.

All of this will hurt.

This is the problem for a lot of people and why nothing changes and nothing gets done.

Because they don’t want to go through the pain of change.

For a lot of people, they won’t change until the pain of being where they are is more than the pain of change.

In other words, things won’t change unless they really have to, they get health scares, etc.

But…

It is only short-term pain.

Think of it that way, make those changes, suck it up, and move on to the next part of your life.

Remember just to stick your thumb up when people ask how it’s going.
